FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — State Superintendent of Schools Michael Martirano appointed Terry George as the new Fayette County Superintendent of Schools Tuesday.

The longtime educator will begin his new position on July 1. George was excited to start his new position.

“It is a great honor to be appointed as a county superintendent and I will strive to serve the students, educators and citizens of Fayette County to the best of my abilities. I am excited to get started in this new role,” George said in a release.

Martirano felt that George’s background made him more than qualified for the job.

“I am pleased that Mr. George is motivated to serve Fayette County Schools and look forward to the leadership he will provide to building community relationships and furthering the success of all Fayette County student,” said Martirano.”

George has a master’s degree in Education Administration from West Virginia University. He replaces Dr. Serena Starcher.
