KINGWOOD — The 450 people who completed a survey on a Preston County school levy put maintenance as their top priority.

Crystal Thomas, a member of the Leadership Committee, said residents who completed the survey were in favor of a five-year levy and would like it to be “strictly a maintenance levy.”

However, maintenance was not alone at the top of the list. Textbooks were one of the main topics of discussion, with 73.1 percent of respondents saying they would vote for the levy if it included textbooks.

Currently only a classroom set of textbooks are purchased instead of one for each child.

The board is proposing to put the levy on the November ballot.
