CHARLESTON, W.Va — The state Board of Education meets in special session Thursday to discuss the latest on the Nicholas County post-flood school facilities plan.

The board is expected to go into executive session to talk about the Supreme Court decision that upheld the board’s power to reject the change the Nicholas County School Board made to its plan concerning the flood-destroyed Richwood High and Richwood Middle schools.

Nicholas County school leaders have shown a willingness to work with state School Superintendent Steve Paine and the state Board of Education since the Supreme Court handed down its decision. A mediator is expected to help with the process.

The meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday in Charleston.
